Carey was once a popular fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was well-liked by top American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. She is the daughter of the world-renowned geologist, who was awarded the title of Scientist of the year by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey's father was a scientist who travelled around the world as part of his career. When she was a student at in the University of Colorado, Carey began modeling on the side. The Ford Model Agency located in New York noticed her and asked for help. The model moved to France in the year 1980, and lived briefly in Paris and Bordeaux before deciding to return in New York to continue with her education at college and build a modeling career. Soon, she was appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. As she modeled, she continued to study in full-time a major in literature at New York University. In New York she began to pursue acting. In 1986 she began her career in acting with a minor role in "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include ski, white-water rafting wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
